On February 8, 2024, our company acquired Green Gold Label (GGL) certification for palm kernel shells (PKS), which are used as biomass fuel.

The GGL certification is an international certification awarded by a third-party organization that assures the sustainability and traceability of the entire supply chain, from production and processing to transportation and final use.

Starting in April 2024, a certification by a third party will be required for the PKS supplied to biomass power plants to which a Feed-in Tariff (FIT) scheme is applied to purchase renewable energy electricity at a fixed price. With the acquisition of GGL certification, we will be able to supply biomass fuel that satisfies the sustainability requirement for this scheme.

Our company implements environment and energy initiatives under its sustainability and environmental policies and “Maruzen Vision 25,” a medium-term management plan of five years. Using the acquisition of this certification as a stepping stone, we will further promote the construction of our biomass fuel supply system that maximizes our network, including Group companies.

The Group will continue to promote environmentally friendly business activities in considering the conservation of the global environment by reducing environmental burdens as an important management issue.
